Stop Running. Seriously. Stop

I’m writing a different type of note today to you.

It may make you feel uncomfortable; truth often does that.

But it’s really to ask you 2 important questions:

  1. When you look at what you are doing daily, does it lead you to the desired life you say you want?
  2. If the answer is no, what is really stopping you?

You may have signed up to get a free tool, or learn about project management.

However, the fact is that these are a means to an end.

Project Management can be a tool for having a lot of money - and having a more organized life. So, by itself, it is useless if there is no larger goal that you are applying it to.

Let me ask another question you may find uncomfortable.
It’s the last question I will ask today.

If you say you want ā€œmore moneyā€, and I said I would give you that exact amount today (here goes):
What is the exact amount of money that will make you financially free?

If you don’t know the answer to this, you may be chasing a dream forever.

Why?

If you don’t know where you are going to, how do you know when you get there?

How will you know if you have already gone past there?

And how do you know you are not wasting your time going elsewhere with the actions you take daily?

I coach and mentor people and ask them these kind of questions.

They are often stunned as they think about the answers - or the fact that they have not really thought about these.

Look, the goal of life is not to hide behind work, or learning project tools, or ambiguity - because time is going.

And time, at the end of the day, is your life.

Hoping these questions will get you thinking about your life’s direction.

And really (really) wishing you all the best.

I’m rooting for you.

You're doing the work. So why don't you have the title?
Don't be like me. I used to run the project. You can relate to this, I'm sure. I'd do it all. Classic "good boy". Set up the meetings. Chase the updates. Write the handover docs nobody else wanted to touch. Then sit quietly while someone else presented it to the director. I wasn't invisible because I wasn't good enough. Not tooting my horn. I was good. Very good. šŸ˜ŽĀ  I was invisible because I ne...
AI will make most people stupid
Sounds extreme, but it isn’t - and it will happen in many ways. Ā  First, for most people, algorithms will figure out your preferences. Religion, politics, biases, preferences. Then the algorithms will spit a lot of that right back at you in your feed. Many apps have a feed by design; ā€œHookedā€ by Nir Eyal shows how this can be addictive - by design. Pretty much, you consume a lot of information ...
Unpopular Opinion: Your 'Hybrid Methodology' Is Just Confusion With a Fancy Name
Half the teams saying they use "hybrid methodology" are just winging it and calling it strategy.I sat in a meeting last week where a PM proudly said, "We're hybrid! We do sprints but also have a Gantt chart."Cool. So does everyone who's disorganized. Ā  Here's the uncomfortable truth:Hybrid doesn't mean "use whatever feels good today." It means deliberately choosing the right approach for each ...
